Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals Fourth NFT Collection in Partnership with Binance

Cristiano Ronaldo, the football legend, has revealed his plans to launch his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection in collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. The collection is scheduled to be released on May 29, 2024, and aims to honor Ronaldo’s remarkable career by showcasing highlights from his football journey, targeting the increasing demand for unique digital assets in the NFT market.

This upcoming release is part of an ongoing partnership between Ronaldo and Binance, which first began in November 2022 with the introduction of the footballer’s debut NFT collection. The initial collection featured iconic moments from Ronaldo’s career, with the rarest items fetching prices of nearly $10,000.

While specific details regarding the quantity of NFTs and the pricing for the new collection have not been disclosed, Binance has stated that the cost will remain uniform for every “Normal NFT,” while the pricing for the ultimate “Super Rare NFT” will vary.

Previous NFT events involving Ronaldo have offered unique benefits, such as the opportunity for holders to play football with the legendary player as part of a Binance promotion.

Nevertheless, the partnership between Ronaldo and Binance has encountered legal challenges. In December 2023, Ronaldo was sued in a $1 billion class-action lawsuit in a United States district court in Florida. The lawsuit alleged that Ronaldo played a role in the promotion and sale of unregistered securities in conjunction with Binance. These allegations were connected to Binance’s prior legal issues, which saw founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao being found guilty in the U.S. of enabling fraud and subsequently being sentenced to four months in detention for his alleged involvement in a money laundering scheme in April 2024.

Despite these legal hurdles, Ronaldo and Binance are moving forward with their NFT collection launch, which is set to celebrate the footballer’s illustrious career and cater to the growing demand for unique digital assets in the NFT market.
