Whale Transfers 2.28 Trillion SHIB from Binance to Unidentified Wallet
The Shiba Inu community is abuzz with excitement following a recent move by a mysterious whale. This whale transferred a staggering 2.28 trillion SHIB tokens, valued at approximately $23.58 million, from the crypto exchange Binance to an unknown wallet. The transaction took place on December 26 at 10:20 UTC, as reported by Whale Alert’s on-chain data.
This significant transaction has caught the attention of the SHIB community, with Lucie, the project’s marketing lead, commenting on the whale’s movement in a post on X. Lucie’s response to the whale’s actions suggests that the motive behind the move is uncertain, but it indicates a strategy of purchasing and holding for the long term.
As of now, the receiving wallet still retains the entire 2.28 trillion SHIB, along with other tokens worth approximately $85 million. The unknown wallet holds $24 million worth of SHIB, $35.5 million in FDUSD, and $25 million in FTM.
This recent movement of SHIB tokens by whales is part of a trend where they are transferring their holdings from centralized exchanges (CEXs) to personal wallets. Just last week, it was reported that a wallet address associated with Justin Sun withdrew 500 billion SHIB tokens, valued at approximately $5.2 million, from Binance. Additionally, two other whales moved a combined total of $13.3 million worth of SHIB from the same exchange. In another instance, a new whale transferred an astonishing 237.86 billion SHIB ($2.54 million) from Binance to an unknown wallet. Reports indicate that over 11 trillion SHIBs have been withdrawn from CEXs in the past eight months.
At the time of writing, SHIB was trading at $0.00001074, marking a 0.02% decline for the day. However, the token has seen a 5.10% increase in the past week.
