ZKsyncs BillionDollar Airdrop Could You Be Among the 695232 Recipients
ZKsync, a leading Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, is preparing to distribute a significant portion of its native ZK tokens to early users and adopters next week. This one-time airdrop will consist of 3.675 billion tokens, which makes up 17.5% of the total 21 billion token supply. The goal of the airdrop is to reward the ZKsync community for their active participation and unwavering support.
In order to determine eligibility for the airdrop, the ZKsync team conducted a snapshot of user activity on ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite on March 24, 2024. Users who met specific criteria, such as interacting with at least 10 smart contracts, depositing liquidity into DeFi protocols, or trading various ERC-20 tokens, were identified as eligible for the airdrop. In total, 695,232 wallets have been selected to receive the ZK token.
The ZKsync Association has made it a priority to allocate the majority of the token supply (67.5%) to the community and ecosystem initiatives, demonstrating a strong commitment to decentralization and community governance. The remaining tokens will be distributed to the Matter Labs team (16.1%) and investors (17.2%), with a 4-year vesting period to ensure long-term alignment with the project’s objectives.
Founder and CEO of Matter Labs, Alex Gluchowski, has emphasized that the airdrop has been designed to prioritize “real people” and limit the influence of “whales.” To achieve this, the maximum allocation per wallet will be capped at 100,000 ZK tokens, ensuring a more equitable distribution among participants.
With pre-market valuations of the ZK token hovering around $0.66 on exchanges like Aevo and PancakeSwap, the total value of the airdrop could exceed $2.5 billion. This valuation holds particular significance as it represents nearly three times ZKsync Era’s current total value locked (TVL) of $815 million.
The ZKsync airdrop is taking place amidst a series of similar events in the Ethereum layer-2 ecosystem, with projects like StarkNet and EigenLayer also recently distributing tokens to their users. However, ZKsync has made a concerted effort to address concerns about fairness and inclusivity in its approach to the airdrop, distinguishing it from other recent distribution events.
